Summer Camps 2024
For over 40 years, Charwick and its staff and supporters have launched and developed leadership camps in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although they have evolved over the years and have been hosted at different sites, the camps have always remained true to their mission of being a faith and fun-filled experience for girls in a setting that provides deep and lasting friendships with each other and with their counselors.
Charwick Study Center has always been a resource and support for the vision, helping launch and implement these summer programs. Today, these camps are under the leadership of women who inspire and work with the high school girls that volunteer as counselors to serve as amazing role models for the campers. They and others volunteer their time and expertise to create the epic camp experience that every girl dreams of.
Camp Monte Stella, June 18-23, moved three years ago from its former site in the Sierra to its present site on the Pacific coast in Aptos, California. While morning fog is typical, it usually burns off by early afternoon for sports time which includes volleyball, soccer, visits to the beach, and nature hikes. The counselors prepare a variety of science, art, theater, and dance activities. Amidst all the fun, campers also have the opportunity to grow in their Catholic faith through practical classes on ‘leadership through service virtues’ embodied in the camp code (which you can read here), times for prayer, and the sacraments.
Once again, Discovery Hills Day Camp, for girls entering 2nd through 4th grade, will be hosted at Charwick Study Center from July 1-5. Girls will break into small groups of 8-10 each with their own team of dedicated counselors who will prepare games, sports, arts, and dance activities as well as lead interactive conversations on what it means to be a loving daughter and caring friend. Moms are welcome to stay for the morning daily talks on parenting and faith formation.
